A guide to preparing for ISTQB
Syllabus, reading order and mock exams — how to prepare so passing is straightforward.
The ISTQB Foundation Level syllabus is split into six chapters. Each ends with its learning objectives — that is exactly where the questions come from.
Reading order matters. Start with fundamentals and the life cycle, then test techniques, and finish with tools and management. Read it the other way round and the definitions blur together.
Sit at least five full mock exams. Keep your wrong answers in a separate note — in most cases the same kind of mistake repeats.
On exam day, split the time: clear the easy questions first, then return to the hard ones. Sixty minutes is enough for forty questions that way.
